Cинтон

by Mria Prosphora

‘Cинтон’ (2022) is a drawn sound machine/sound object inspired by the technique of ornamental/graphical sound born in USSR in the 30s of the XX century. The main purpose of the technology is to synthesise sounds, as well as to create ‘hybrid’ sounds, which cannot be reproduced by the ordinary instruments. The work is a conceptual and physical interpretation of the technique that did not try to create anything visual out of music, but on the contrary, tried to create sound from simple figures of Euclid geometry. It is also a ‘prototype’ that exists in the same historical dimension with the variation of the graphic sound machines built by the Soviet engineers. It pays tribute to the inventor and machines that were devastated by the war and it resonates with the history as it seems to repeat itself.
